GATE 2027 Exam Pattern – Question Paper Structure, Marks, Duration

GATE 2027 Exam Pattern Overview

Types of Questions in GATE 2027
GATE 2027 will have three types of questions. The first type is Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) where only one option is correct. For some papers like AR, CY, DA, EY, GE, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL, the distribution is slightly different. In these papers, General Aptitude carries 15 marks and Subject Questions carry 85 marks. There is no separate Engineering Mathematics section. The total remains 100 marks.

Paper-wise Exam Pattern of GATE 2027
For papers like AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, TF, the pattern is simple. General Aptitude is 15 marks and the subject section is 85 marks. Engineering Mathematics is included within the subject part with 13 marks. The total marks are 100 and the total time is 180 minutes.
For papers CY, DA, EY, MA, PH, and ST, the pattern is also 15 marks for General Aptitude and 85 marks for the subject. The total is 100 marks with a duration of 180 minutes.
