GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for GATE 2027, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. The exam is conducted by IIT.
Who Can Apply for GATE 2027:
- Students in the 3rd year or above of any undergraduate program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
- Candidates who have completed a government-approved bachelor’s degree in the above fields.
- Candidates with professional society certifications recognized by AICTE, MoE, or UPSC (for example, AMIE by the Institution of Engineers – India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers, IETE, AeSI, IIChE, IIM, IIIE) are eligible if their courses are considered equivalent to B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., or B.Planning.
Candidates from Other Countries:
- Must have completed or be in the 3rd year or higher of a Bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or Arts/Humanities.
GATE 2027 Exam Age Limit:
There is no age limit to appear for GATE 2027. Candidates of any age meeting the educational qualifications can apply.

*Professional societies recognized by AICTE, MoE, or UPSC are eligible as per government guidelines.
Important Notes:
- Candidates with B.Sc., B.A., or B.Com. (3-year program) who want admission to Master’s programs in IITs are eligible.
- Candidates holding a higher degree than the qualifying degree can appear for GATE 2027.
